PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) consist of three essential amino acids: isoleucine, leucine, and valine. These amino acids are termed “essential” because the human body cannot produce them naturally and must obtain them through diet or supplementation. Unlike most amino acids, which are metabolized in the liver, BCAAs are broken down directly in the muscles and peripheral tissues. This unique characteristic allows them to play a critical role in enhancing muscle repair, supporting growth, reducing fatigue, and improving recovery after physical activity.
- Isoleucine supports the absorption of glucose into muscle cells, providing energy for workouts and protecting against muscle protein breakdown. Additionally, it plays an essential role in building proteins needed for muscle growth and repair.
- Leucine is particularly powerful in promoting muscle protein synthesis, acting on genetic pathways that regulate protein production. When metabolized, it generates energy-rich molecules like acetyl-CoA and acetoacetate, which fuel the body during intense exercise.
- Valine is essential for muscle tissue maintenance, as it supplies additional glucose for energy production and aids in rapid recovery of damaged muscle fibers. It also helps maintain nitrogen balance, a critical factor for muscle metabolism and overall growth.
